The Public Option

So far, I've stayed away from engaging in the healthcare debate on this blog. I don't plan on changing that today, but I think these films are worth watching. Britain's National Health Service was born in 1948. Britain was broke after World War Two. Rationing did not fully end until the early 1950's. The nation had to be rebuilt, but the available funds were minimal. Nevertheless, the NHS came into being. In addition, other benefits were introduced, and the contruction of New Towns began - towns which were designed to be better, healthier places to live (with the pedestrian in mind).
